I am an Associate Research Professor within the Department of Economics at Johns Hopkins University and on leave from being the Sidney Taurel Associate Professor of Business (untenured) within the Economics Division at Columbia Business School and an affiliated faculty member within the Department of Economics at Columbia University. I am also a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), a Research Affiliate at the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), an Affiliate Member at the Center for Economic Studies and Ifo Institute for Economic Research (CESifo), and a Research Fellow at the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA@LISER).

Previously, I was a Senior Economist within the Research Division and a Visiting Scholar at the Opportunity & Inclusive Growth Institute (OIGI) at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, a Research Associate at the Heller-Hurwicz Economics Institute (HHEI) at the University of Minnesota, a Visiting Scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, a visitor at the Becker Friedman Institute (BFI) at the University of Chicago, a daily visitor at the Cowles Foundation for Research in Economics at Yale University, and a visitor at the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance (EIEF).

My research is in the fields of macroeconomics, labor economics, public finance, and development economic, with a focus on earnings inequality. I have taught related courses at the graduate (MBA, EMBA, and PhD) and undergraduate levels.

I received a PhD from the Department of Economics at Princeton University.
